Schenna in Bloom
Early Spring, Extended Summer.
Be there when Schenna comes into bloom!
When spring arrives in Schenna, winter has not long been gone. In fact, it is still very much present – at least on the mountain peaks, where the snow is still gleaming. Down in the valley, however, everything is already green and in full bloom, bursting with colour. It is a wonderful time for nature lovers, connoisseurs and active guests alike. Perfect for recharging your batteries among budding flowerbeds and gently babbling irrigation channels (Waalwege). Ideal for setting off on the first leisurely walks of the year – on foot as well as by mountain bike or e-bike.
The event series “Schenna in Bloom” brings colourful variety to kitchens, wine cellars and castles. Musically, with open-air concerts or lively matinées; indulgent and enjoyable with tastings of fine spirits and four-course crime dinners; or artistic and cultural with barn readings and evening guided tours of the castle.
From April to May, Schenna offers a diverse programme of events and festivals as part of “Schenna in Bloom”, centred around pleasure and cuisine, nature and culture. Spring is the perfect time to enjoy sunshine and fresh air and to experience the vibrant variety of Schenna’s event scene.

Set in a natural amphitheatre, they feature more than 80 natural and cultural landscapes, themed gardens, plant collections, art installations and interactive experience stations. Trauttmansdorff Castle stands right in the heart of the gardens. It served several times as a retreat and place of relaxation for Empress Elisabeth (“Sisi”) and today houses the Touriseum, the Museum of Tourism History.
The gardens are located on the outskirts of Merano and at the entrance to Schenna and are easy to reach. From Schenna, you can get there by Schenna bus (232), by car or on foot.
